Dr. Natalie Carr-Bustillo, DDS, MS

Dr. Carr-Bustillo attended dental school at Northwestern University in Chicago—one of the top dental schools in the country. While at Northwestern, she volunteered at the Saturday Morning People's Clinic, a clinic for low income families to receive dental care for their children. She was selected by faculty as one of four students from her class to work in an externship in Colorado, where she worked at the Fort Lumpston Community Health Clinic as a dentist for the migrant farm workers' children.

Dr. Carr-Bustillo graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in 1997, receiving the highest number of honors including:

  • International College of Dentists Student Award:
    Award for the most professional growth during the years of dental study at Northwestern University.
  • American Society of Dentistry for Children:
    Award for great interest and proficiency in the care of young patients.
  • American Association of Public Health Dentistry's Student Recognition Award:
    Award for outstanding achievement in community dentistry and dental public health.
  • Northwestern University Dental School Alumni Award:
    Award given by the alumni association for outstanding service to the school.
  • Delta Dental Student Recognition Award:
    Award for outstanding record keeping.

Continuing her studies at the University of Texas, Houston, she completed a two-year residency program in Pediatric Dentistry, serving as chief resident during her second year. After finishing the certificate program, Dr. Carr-Bustillo decided to stay a third year to complete the necessary classes and Master's thesis to obtain a Masters in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Carr-Bustillo received a Master's of Science in Oral Biology before going on to receive her board certification in 2006.

Dr. Carr-Bustillo moved back home to the Tampa Bay area in 2002 to practice in Tampa and Brandon. She has been active in organized dentistry, serving on and chairing numerous committees; her focus is providing access to care for the under-served population through programs including President of Florida's Project Dentist Care 2008, Hillsborough County Dental Association Give Kids a Smile, Smile Fridays and Children's Dental Health Month.

Her most recent leadership positions include:

  • President of the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, 2009–2010
  • Hillsborough County Dental Association President, 2010–2011.
  • West Coast Dental Association Second Vice President, 2013-2014.

Passionate about pediatric dentistry, Dr. Carr-Bustillo dedicates most of her time and talent to the delivery of dental care with an emphasis on education. She educated post graduate dental students from the University of Florida Dental School at their Advanced General Dentistry Residency program while it was in Tampa, and served as a faculty member. Dr. Carr-Bustillo supervised students on dental mission trips to Guatemala and Peru, treating children in extreme poverty. She volunteers on the University of South Florida Ronald McDonald Care Mobile where she provides dental screenings and limited extractions to under-served children in Hillsborough County.

Additionally, Dr. Carr-Bustillo frequently participates in events sponsored by Fishhawk Riverview Rotary and is a group fitness instructor, teaching Body Pump, Body Flow and spin classes at local gyms.

Dr. Meghan Carter, DMD

Dr. Carter was born and raised in Tampa. She attended Hillsborough High School and continued her education at the University of South Florida majoring in Biomedical Sciences.

While attending college, Dr. Carter worked as a dental assistant in a pediatric dental office. At that time, she confirmed her passion for treating children's dental needs. Dr. Carter attended the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for dental school and completed her pediatrics training at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

She is board eligible and is working towards her board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Her numerous affiliations include the America Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Giving back to the community and treating the underserved is important to Dr. Carter. She earned the
"Most Outstanding Volunteer" award in dental school for her work with MUSC Children's Hospital, Our
Lady Mercy community dental clinic, and multiple local dental outreach events. Her commitment to
providing quality dental care has even crossed the seas with dental mission trips to Uganda and Andros,

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her family. Her husband is a Physician
Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at St. Joseph's hospital. Together they love to travel, exercise and
cheer on the Bucs and Lightning!

Meet Our Team

Patie - Office Manager

"I am thrilled that I have had the opportunity to work for Dr. Carr and with the amazing team at Carr Pediatric Dentistry. Working for Dr. Carr has been a very enjoyable and rewarding experience."

Patie has been with Carr Pediatric Dentistry since it opened in August 2010. She enjoys working with the patients and their parents. Having raised five children herself she can easily relate to them and their needs. Originally from a small town in New York, Patie is a Dental Assistant who brings years of sales and customer service experience to the team. In her spare time she and her husband love riding their Harleys. She also plays the piano, has been with a number of different ministries over the years and loves the time she has with her grandchildren.

Alicia - Office Coordinator

Alicia has worked in the dental field since 1999 as an office coordinator. She began working with Carr Pediatric Dentistry in 2010.

Alicia is originally from Argentina and is the mother of five children (Dr.Carr being one of them) and is the grandmother of twelve wonderful children. She enjoys spending time at the beach and relishing time with her grandchildren.

Waver - Insurance Specialist

Waver joined Carr Pediatric Dentistry in 2012, Her prior 40+ years of employment has been as an office manager in both the construction and commercial/residential appraisal industries. This background has trained her to the attention to detail which is necessary when verifying insurance.
In her spare time, Waver enjoys spending time with friends, family and especially her granddaughters.

Carmen - Receptionist

"Working at Carr Pediatric Dentistry has been a blessing from the start." 

Carmen began working at Carr Pediatric Dentistry in July of 2016. She has enjoyed every step of the way, especially being able to work with Dr.Carr, Dr. Carter, and their team. She hopes to grow with this office and to continue providing excellent service to our patients.

When not in the office, Carmen enjoys spending time with her son, her family, and her friends. She also loves to cook, to dance, and to simply enjoy life.

Danielle - Dental Assistant and Dental Outreach Coordinator

Danielle really enjoys working at Carr Pediatric Dentistry. She loves working with children and teaching them to properly take care of their teeth. Most of all she loves helping the children have a great dental experience!

Originally from New York, Danielle has been a part of the Carr Dentistry team since the practice opened in August 2010. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities, art, making jewelry and most of all spending time with her family, daughter and friends! 

Lauren - Dental Assistant and Marketing Coordinator

Lauren is an honors student at the University of South Florida and is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Arts degree (BA) in Global Business with a concentration in Marketing.

She has worked in the office since 2016, earning her EFDA in July of 2017. Lauren loves working with children and is grateful to be a part of the Carr Pediatric team, noting as how it has helped develop not only her professional profile, but has also allowed her to help steer families in the right direction for their dental care and oral hygiene habits.

Taylor - Dental Assistant

Taylor is a licensed dental assistant and has been a member of our team for five years. As of August of 2019, she will have earned her B.S. degree from USF. Because of her passion for dentistry, she is planning to apply to dental school so that she can be a dentist one day as well.

Her bubbly personality and optimism makes her a pleasure to have around. She is always happy to help her team members, but above all else, she loves being able to help take care of our patients.

Sarah - Dental Assistant

Sarah's long term goal is to become a Dental Hygienist so she can continue to spread the message of preventative care to all sorts of people. She has been a part of our team since October of 2014 and has not stopped growing since she joined. She loves working with the kids, but she also values the amount of learning she experiences everyday while continuing to provide care to our patients.

When she isn't challenging herself to learn, she's relaxing at the beach and playing with her dog or spending time with her boyfriend. She also does part time modeling at her friend's boutique.

Jami - Dental Assistant

Jami went to Remington College and received her EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) in 2015. She was introduced to our team as an extern and was hired immediately because of her natural skill with children. She always brings spunk into the office with her charisma and fun music taste.

When Jami's not with her second family (her team at Carr Pediatric), she's with her family at home. They love to go fishing together and explore the world of music, seeing as it is another passion for her.

Crysten - Dental Assistant

Crysten came from New York with two years of experience as a hygiene assistant to join our team in August of 2018. Since then, she has recieved her Dental Assistant certification in January and became nitrous certified as of April 2019. She plans to become a dental hygienist one day, but in the meantime is enjoying learning and growing with our Carr Pediatric family.

In her free time, Crysten likes to go boating, spend time at the beach, and enjoy the Florida sun.

Matilde - Sterilization Technician

Matilde takes great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming office. Although trained as a certified nursing assistant, Matilde finds great pleasure in working with the children and team at Carr Pediatric Dentistry. She is originally from Cuba (so you can always expect a great cup of coffee in our office) and moved to the United States in 2006. When not working she enjoys relaxing and watching movies.
